Count up, count down, or enter an exact number

Use Count Up for completed events, Count Down for a remaining quantity, and Enter Number for a total you already know. Every counter on a board can have its own behavior.

Counter types, starting values, and steps are free. These are whole-number tallies; Count Down is not a clock or timer.

How to do it

  1. Open Edit Counter

Tap the layout gear, then tap the counter you want to change.

  2. Choose a mode and starting value

Select Count Up, Count Down, or Enter Number. Set Starting value to the baseline you want Reset to restore.

  3. Set the step where applicable

For Count Up or Count Down, choose Increment by from 1 through 100. Save with the checkmark, finish layout editing, and try one tap.

Three modes, three different jobs

  • Count Up: from 0 with a step of 1, three taps give 3. Use it for people arriving or sets completed.
  • Count Down: from 24 with a step of 2, three taps give 18. Use it for items remaining in pairs.
  • Enter Number: tap to open the keypad and enter 18. The new count is 18, rather than the old count plus 18.

Starting value and current value

Starting value defines the reset baseline. If you want to change a live tally to a known number, use Enter Number or the hold menu’s number-entry action. Editing a baseline and correcting a tally are different jobs.

A step of 5 is useful when every tap represents one bundle of five items. For mixed bundle sizes, use a step of 1 or enter the measured total. Check the result once before repeating the action.

Use the hold menu for an exception

A Count Up counter can still subtract through its hold menu. Hold until the controls appear, slide to Subtract, then release. You do not need to change its normal tap mode to correct one event.

Widget taps follow the configured mode. An Enter Number widget tile opens the keypad in KeepCount; it does not let you type a number directly inside the widget.

Common questions

Will Count Down stop at zero?

Treat it as a numerical tally, not a protected stock limit. Check the result and correct an overcount rather than relying on a zero-stop alert.
