Fix a missing counter or unexpected widget value

First verify the count in KeepCount itself. Then check the widget’s selected board, available tile space, and counter mode. A display issue and a changed saved count need different fixes.

These checks do not require Pro unless the selected board is outside the free allowance. Avoid deleting the app as a widget fix: your boards are local.

How to do it

  1. Check the saved result

Open the intended board in KeepCount. If its count is correct, focus on the widget configuration or redraw. If it is incorrect, check the counter mode and step before tapping again.

  2. Confirm the selected board

Touch and hold the Home Screen widget, choose Edit Widget, and select an accessible board. A similarly named or deleted board can make an old configuration misleading.

  3. Give each counter enough space

Try a larger widget, or enlarge the counter tile in the app’s layout editor. Tiles below the minimum comfortable tap size are omitted.

  4. Check the expected action

Count Up adds its step; Count Down subtracts. Enter Number opens KeepCount’s keypad. Compare one deliberate test tap with the app’s saved result.

Missing labels, tiles, or colors

A very short tile can show a value without its label. That is different from a tile omitted because it cannot provide enough tap area. A simpler board or larger widget is a useful diagnostic.

Tinted widget mode emphasizes numbers and separators, rather than your saved full-color fills. Check the app before assuming your board colors were changed.

A stale value is not proof of data loss

KeepCount requests widget refreshes when values change, but the system decides when to redraw. Verify the count in the app. If the configuration remains wrong, remove and re-add the widget, keeping the app installed.

Older in-app undo actions can become unavailable after external writes. That protects newer widget or Shortcut changes from an outdated undo action; it does not mean the widget needs Pro for ordinary counting.

When to contact support

If a repeatable test changes the wrong saved counter or produces the wrong amount, note your app version, OS, widget size, counter type, step, and selected board. Send those details to support with a synthetic example if possible.

Do not send private board contents or reinstall while trying to preserve local data. An inaccessible Pro board should be checked through restore controls before being recreated.

Common questions

Why does tapping the widget open the app?

That is expected for an Enter Number counter. Its keypad lives in KeepCount. Use Count Up or Count Down if you want a numerical change from the widget.
