Siri and Shortcuts actions are included free for accessible counters. Siri availability and network requirements depend on Apple’s system.

How to do it
Name your counter clearly
In KeepCount, use a label such as Packed boxes instead of several counters all called Count. Check its board and mode.
Build a Shortcut
Open Shortcuts, create a new shortcut, and add an action from KeepCount. Choose Add to Counter, select the counter, and set Amount only if you need a specific increment.
Test and name it
Run the shortcut and verify the value in KeepCount. Rename it to a phrase you can say to Siri, such as Count packed boxes.
Run it with Siri
Ask Siri to run the saved shortcut by its name. You can also try the app phrase Add to a counter in KeepCount and answer its target prompt.
Choose the action that matches the job
- Add to Counter changes by the counter step when Amount is unset. A Count Down target decreases.
- Set Counter Value replaces the current number with the specified whole value.
- Get Counter Value reads the current saved value and can pass it to a later Shortcut action.
- Reset Counter restores the starting value. Reset All Counters does that for every counter on the selected board.
- Open Board opens KeepCount on a selected board.
Make amounts explicit when you need them
If every box contains six items, a Shortcut can supply an Amount of 6 to a Count Up target. If you want to follow the counter’s own step, leave Amount unset.
An explicit amount of zero is different from omitting the amount. Do not use zero as a placeholder for use my saved step. Enter Number is an app keypad behavior; the numerical Add action still performs a count change.
If Siri selects the wrong thing
Run the saved shortcut directly to separate a voice-recognition issue from a counter configuration issue. Check the target and amount, then give the shortcut and counter more distinctive names.
If a target no longer exists or is outside accessible boards, edit the shortcut to choose an available target or restore Pro. In-app undo is not a permanent undo log for changes made from Shortcuts.
Common questions
Will a shortcut share counts with another device?
No. Syncing a Shortcut through Apple does not turn KeepCount’s local boards into a synced counter database. Configure and verify the target on the device that runs it.
Need a hand?
Email support@keepcount.app or use the feedback form with your app version, device, system version, and what happened. Keep private board content out of your message.
